Fabulous Wedding Dresses!

I absolutely love what is coming for the 2012 wedding season! So many textures, layers and of course colour!  Lace is bigger than ever, and modern sheath is making an entry into this seasons wedding fashion!!! Wedding dresses have become so playful and really attempt to push the envelope; making it possible for any bride to find somthing that suites both her personality and budget.

Some of the hot trends for wedding gowns this upcoming season have been reinvented and to create timless pieces that have modern flare. We all know Kate Middltons Royal wedding dress very well and were quite shocked to see a piece that was so traditional in many ways, but was also very modern. The definition of form and strength of lines were very apparent in her dress, and were married quite successfully to the traditional lace and sleaves. So it comes as no surprise that this style is perpahs the most popular and desirable for new brides.

Lace has always been popular for weddings, it is a beautiful combination of fragility and complexity. As an alternative to full sleeves, capped sleeves are back in!

As mentioned in the previous blog post regarding hot colour trends, dresses that have accents of black are in high demand this season. They are sophisticated and eye catching due to the contrast between the white and black. Consider whether you want the black details to be the focal point of your dress or simply the form and white or Ivory colour to be, as the black can be quite powerful and can really stand out.  I have a feeling that this particular style will be around for a while.

This leads us into the next trend which is my personal favourite; colour! A coloured dress comes off as being "tacky" or "distracting", but when the right colour is chosen any wedding gown can be beautiful and certainly match the brides personality and personal style. Try not to go too bold, as you would want the colour to be tastful and to not distract entirely from the readiance of a newlywed bride.

Blushes, greens, greys and golds are all in demand this season, and when tastfully completed with accessories, they create a beautifulcomposition that demonstrates fashion, taste, personality and above all radiance.

Gold dresses deserve a paragraph all of their own for a number of reasons. The first being that gold is a reoccuring colour used for weddings. It was worn in the middle ages for wedding gowns and has repeated many times over. Socondly, gold is deffinetly a neutral, like white and ivory, but of course has much more flare. White and ivory tend to have more pressence because they are naturally so bright, but gold has the sparkle. Thirdly, gold is a classic, it is very high class and is very hollywood. When paired with white pearls or chunky diamonds and crystals you can successfully reintroduce white and classics hues to the ansemble.

This leads us into the next big trend which is Hollywood glam. Through maintaining art deco forms, shapes and styles in any wedding piece you have successfully recreated a classic hollywood inspired ansemble. However, this season is marked by both classic and modern hollywood styles. Both are unique and classy, that have a remarkable cultural flare! Hollywood is a very North American style that is well known through old films, but over the years has transformed into a type of glamorous that is very revealing andf sexy; it celebrate women's beautiful, unique and desirable features.

Layers and textures are very important for this season, they are adding form, volume and shape to any piece, and therefore successfully creating visual interest. Truly unqiue style that are not commonly found or seen are hitting the runways and aisles this upcoming year. Feathers and horsehair trims are only two of the ways that texture and volume are being integrated into wedding style. Illusion necklines is the other trend which deffinelty adds visual interest as it drapes any body with a light layer of fabric that mutes skin and leads the eye to visually interesting aspects of a dress, the accessories and of course to the brides blushing face.

Hopfully this inspires you when you do your dress shopping. Keep in mind visual interest, texture, volume, and colour when doing your browsing this season. Fond somthing that truly suites your personality and personal style. It is the one dress that you will always remember and treasure, so make it count!
