Glass and Candles

When planning my own wedding and working around a budget, candles became the focus of decor and centre pieces. Candles are easy to come by and exist in a variety of colours, shapes, sizes, textures and designs. They are beautiful and more importantly inexpensive! Depending on the venue candles can be used in a variety of ways. Hurricanes, lanterns, floating, candleabras, and votives are a beautiful way to illuminate a space and set a mood for fun and romantic settings.

I came across a photo not too long ago where a wedding used candles much in the same way that I had planned. However, instead of renting or collecting hurricanes and votives, make use of some antique, unused or mix mached wine and water glasses! When used as a pillar for candles they create quite a statement.
Colour can easily be incorporated through the use of  flowers under the goblet as seen in the image which I found. Another way that colour can be incorporated is through the use of coloured candles. For added colour, texture or detail, items such as feathers, grasses or perhaps even paint can add the colour where needed ; these ideas could contribute and even enhance the theme of your event.

  1. I showed this idea to a couple of people at Crate & Barrel as well as to a couple customers and it has been a hit for inexpensive and beautiful decor at home or for celebrations.
